The 90 day plan

# Why your business is not in the top 3 on Google, and what _90 days_ of fixing it looks like.

Most owners who call me are good at the job and invisible on Google. The reasons are almost always the same five, and none of them are about being bad at the work. Here they are, and here is what the first 90 days of fixing them looks like, so you know what to expect from me or from anyone else.

**Brandon Medina**, founder of BCM Results, Boston. Published September 19, 2026.

## The five reasons, in the order I find them

### 1. The listing says the wrong thing

The primary category is too broad, half the sections are empty, the services are not listed, or the description was written in 2019. Google cannot rank you for a search it does not think you match. This is the most common one and the fastest to fix.

### 2. The website and the listing disagree

Different phone number, an old address, the website title that says only the company name. Google compares the two. When they disagree, it trusts neither as much as it could.

### 3. Not enough reviews, or none this year

The businesses in the top three in your category usually have a lot more reviews than you and keep getting them. A dozen reviews from three years ago reads as a business that stopped.

### 4. Nobody else mentions you

Google checks whether the directories and local sites that already know your industry know you too, and whether they all say the same name, address and phone. An old listing with the previous phone number counts against you.

### 5. The website does not do its job

Slow on a phone, no clear button to call, no page per service, no map. Even when the listing ranks, the click goes to a site that loses the customer, and Google notices people bouncing back to the results.

## What 90 days looks like

This is my plan. Anyone doing this properly will do something close to it. If someone promises the top three next week, ask how.

### Week 1: measure before touching anything

I run a rank grid: the same search from a grid of points across your area, and record where you show up at each one. That is the before picture, dated. Then I go through the listing, the website and the mentions and write down every gap. You get this as the free analysis before you decide anything.

### Weeks 1 to 2: the listing

Primary category fixed, secondary categories added, every section filled, services listed with descriptions, photos with real locations, booking link pointed at the contact page, questions and answers added. This is where most of the early movement comes from.

### Weeks 2 to 4: the website

Title and headline say the service and the city. Name, address and phone in the footer, identical to the listing. Map embedded. One clear call to action. A page for each main service. Speed fixed so it loads on a phone in a couple of seconds.

### Weeks 3 to 6: reviews and mentions

The review system goes in: a one tap link, a script for your team for the moment the customer is happiest, and replies to every review. In parallel, the core listings get created or corrected so every one says the same thing.

### Weeks 6 to 12: build out and hold

Service pages and area pages get written and linked to each other, the listing gets a weekly update, new photos go up, reviews keep coming. Every month you get the same rank grid, dated, next to the first one. You see the map turn green, or you see exactly where it has not yet.

## What "top 3 in 90 days" means, and what happens if it does not happen

It means that for your main search term, from the points in your area that matter, you are in the three businesses on the map. It does not mean every search from every corner of the state. It does not mean one lucky screenshot.

In my plan, if you are not in the top three within 90 days, **billing pauses until you are**, and it restarts from the next billing cycle once you are there. That is in the [terms](https://bcmresultss.com/terms-of-service/). It is the reason I only take businesses I believe I can get there, and one business per industry per area.

## How to tell if it is working before day 90

- The rank grid has more green dots each month, starting near the business and spreading out.

- The listing shows more calls, direction requests and website clicks in its own stats.

- New reviews are arriving every week, not in bursts.

- Searching your service plus your neighborhood shows you on the map from more places than before.

## Questions people ask

**Can I do this myself?**

Yes. Everything above is public, and Google's own help page lists the same three factors. The reason people pay for it is the same reason they pay a bookkeeper: it has to be done properly, every month, while you run the business.

**Will ads get me into the top 3 faster?**

Ads show above the map while you pay. They do not move your position on the map. Run them if you need calls this week, but they are not a shortcut to ranking.

**What if my competitor is already your client?**

Then I will tell you on the first call and we will not work together. One business per industry per area, because I cannot put two of you in the same top three.

**What do I have to do during the 90 days?**

About an hour at the start to give access and answer questions, ask customers for reviews with the link I give you, and a short check in each month. The rest is on me.
