# the 90 days: what happens _and why I put it in writing_

My terms put a 90 day line on the top three, and here is what happens inside those days and why the line is there.

**Brandon Medina**, founder of BCM Results, Boston. Published September 20, 2026, updated September 21, 2026.

Hi,

Every plan I write has the same line in it: top 3 on Google Maps within 90 days, or billing pauses until you are there. People ask about that line more than anything else, so here is what the days actually contain and why I was willing to write it down.

First, what happens. The first week is access and audit. You give me the keys to the listing and the site, I take the dated screenshot of your main search from the spot that matters, and I go through everything against what the three businesses above you are doing. Then the fixes start, in order: the listing first, because it is the fastest to change and the most often wrong. Category, services, description, photos, hours, every field filled in with the words your customers use. Then the site, so it says the same thing the listing says: what you do, which towns, and how to call. Then the review routine goes to your team, so reviews come in steadily instead of never. Then the citations, so other sites agree about your name, address and phone.

Nothing happens on a fixed schedule. Google does not publish a timetable for local ranking changes, and the result depends on relevance, distance, prominence, competition and Google's systems. Ninety days is the service goal and billing-protection line in the terms, not a promise about the exact day a ranking will move.

Now the lesson, which is about why the line exists at all: a promise is only worth what happens when it is broken.

Anyone can say "you will be ranked in no time." The words are free. What is not free is telling you, in writing, what happens if it does not work. My version is that billing pauses. You are not paying while you are not in the three, and it restarts from the next cycle once you are. That line does two things. It tells you I believe I can do it, and it makes me careful about who I say yes to, because the line costs me something if I am wrong.

Picture an owner comparing two proposals. One is long, has a monthly fee, and says the agency will "work to improve visibility." The other is one page, has a flat rate, and says what done means and what happens if done does not arrive by a date. The first proposal can never fail, because it never said what success was. The second one can, and that is precisely why it is the one to trust. A plan that cannot fail is not a plan. It is a subscription.

The other reason I write it down is for me. A date on paper changes how I work. It means I do the listing this week, not when I get to it. It means the review link goes to your team in the first month, not the third. The line is a promise to you and a deadline for me.

The full walk through of the ranking work, what I do and what you do, is here: [the Google Maps ranking service page](https://bcmresultss.com/services/google-maps-ranking/). The terms are public on the site, and they are short.

Ninety days from access. Same search, same spot, a picture every month. Either you are on the map by then, or billing pauses until you are.

Brandon

I run BCM Results in Massachusetts. I help local businesses improve and measure their Google visibility. The written terms define a 90-day top-three goal and pause billing if that goal is not reached. Six public website examples are linked from the Work section on the home page.
